
Kayvon Afsarifard, Ph.D.(94029374), is a Psychological Associate working under the supervision of f Dr. Michael Epstein (CA PSY34435). Dr. Afsarifard provides individual therapy for adults and adolescents, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, stress, and life transitions.
Dr. Afsarifard earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in 2018, followed by his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in 2025.
Dr. Afsarifard integrates evidence-based therapies—including CBT, DBT, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches—with mindfulness and mind-body strategies to support resilience, healing, and personal growth.
With a research background in yoga and chronic pain, he emphasizes the deep connection between emotional and physical health. Dr. Afsarifard also offers psychological assessments to help clarify concerns and guide treatment.
Dr. Afsarifard has trained extensively in diverse settings, including correctional facilities, residential treatment programs, outpatient clinics, and schools. At Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, he conducted comprehensive forensic evaluations, facilitated DBT skills groups, and provided individual therapy within the Enhanced Outpatient Program. He has also worked in community-based and dual-diagnosis treatment programs, where he gained experience with psychological assessments, relapse prevention, and skills-based group therapy.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Afsarifard enjoys hiking, triathlon training, yoga, meditation, and horseback riding.
